Ephesians 2:8-9

We are saved by grace alone through faith alone. Look at these verses and let's break them down.

Paul makes 5 points about God's salvation to us today:

Eph 2:8 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 2:9 KJV Not of works, lest any man should boast.

1. It's by GRACE (unearned favor)

2. It's through faith ( belief in Jesus' work on the cross for our sins)

3. It's NOT of ourselves – you have nothing to do with it but believe and trust.

4. It's a gift. (you don't work for a gift - otherwise it's not a gift)

5. It's not of works (otherwise you would have something to boast in)

If you think you play a part in your salvation besides believing and trusting what Christ did, you are not believing the one new gospel that Jesus gave to Paul for us today to be saved by today.
