The Gospel for us today
How to be saved, have your sins forgiven and be in Heaven for all eternity

SALVATION:

To clarify the gospel that saves a person today: The gospel that gets your sins forgiven and will get you to Heaven when you die, is to understand you are a sinner that deserves Hell, and when you believe that Jesus died on the cross, shedding His blood, was buried and rose from the dead for the forgiveness of our sins and our justification, and then put your trust in that and that alone for the forgiveness of your sins, you are saved.  This is the only gospel that must be believed and trusted to be saved.  No works on your part.  When you understand you are a sinner deserving of Hell and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for your sins, you are then saved by God's grace.

1Cor 15:1 KJV   Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

1Cor 15:2 KJV   By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

1Cor 15:3 KJV   For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

1Cor 15:4 KJV   And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Keep in mind that many people believe the facts about Jesus and that the event of the cross happened, but they do not trust it for their salvation.  We then, must put our trust in this gospel for the forgiveness of our sins and nothing else, to be saved.  It's that simple.  Jesus did the work necessary for our salvation.  We cannot.  Paul puts it this way:

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Rom 4:5 KJV   But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

True salvation only comes when we believe that Jesus is our ALL SUFFICIENT SAVIOR.  We cannot add anything to His blood shed and work of salvation on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.

We are not saved by repenting (turning from sin), being baptized in water, walking an aisle, saying a prayer, keeping the law, confessing with your mouth, or following Jesus’ earthly ministry. Those are all "works" that do not save us today, and are not part of the gospel message Jesus gave to Paul for us to be saved by.  We are saved by grace, not works, as this verse explains the contrast of works and grace.  It proves we cannot be saved by both works and grace, it cannot be both at the same time.

Rom 11:6 KJV   And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Salvation today is through faith alone, by grace alone, in Christ alone.  It is a gift 100%, that must be received by believing and putting our trust in Christ' work on the cross and nothing else.

Rom 3:23 KJV   For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Rom 3:24 KJV   Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:   Also see: Titus 3:5-6

Rom 5:8 KJV But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

He came to save sinners, not people trying to make themselves righteous by doing some kind of good work, getting wet or turning from their sins, they cannot totally do anyway.

Simply believe and put your trust in the new gospel Jesus gave to Paul for us today to be saved by.  Then start reading the books of Romans - Philemon in a KJB to understand what was written to us the body of Christ, so we could know what God wants from us and who we are in Christ, once we are saved.  Then read, study and know the rest of the bible because ALL scripture is profitable for us.  Just know that the books Paul wrote are the only place we find the gospel that saves a person today.  Though we can get some spiritual application from other scripture outside of Paul's writings, we need to be careful in deciding what may be applicable to us today.  When it contradicts Paul - we go with what Jesus gave to Paul for us today.

Just keep in mind that not all of the bible was written to and about us, for our doing today.  94% of the bible is TO and ABOUT Israel, yes Israel.  ALL scripture is FOR us but not all scripture is TO and ABOUT us today to obey.  Don’t be fooled by people who tell you, you need to obey Jesus commands He gave in the four gospel books to the nation of Israel under the law, Gal 4:4 KJV   But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Also don't be fooled by someone telling you, you need to do some good work to be saved as Israel needed, or  good works to stay saved or to prove that you are saved.  That is not the gospel for us today which is a free gift of GRACE when we believe and trust in what Jesus did on the cross for our sins.

Eph 2:8 KJV   For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 2:9 KJV   Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Good works should then come AFTER we are saved and not before.

Eph 2:10 KJV   For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I have often said the gospel is simply 2 sentences:

1.  Believe that Jesus died, shed His blood, was buried and rose from the dead,

2.  Put our trust in that alone for the forgiveness of our sins.

The difference between belief and trust is this:

Believe = to have knowledge and accept as true

Trust = to rely on or have confidence in something
