ETERNAL SECURITY
Salvation is a gift from God when we believe Jesus died on the cross, shedding His blood, was buried and rose from the dead. When we put our trust in this new gospel message Jesus gave to us from Paul, we are saved and have eternal life. The promise of eternal life is just that - ETERNAL.
Yes, there are verses that say someone can lose your standing with God but knowing the verses in their context we would know that losing our salvation is not possible for someone saved today, in the body of Christ. For Israel, yes. They needed to endure until the end, do good works and keep the law. But we are under grace. Grace is a gift not to be earned to get it, or to keep it. The promise of eternal life once we are saved is not a temporary standing. That makes no sense. It's either the promise of eternal life or it isn't.
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
We need to rightly divide God's word to understand salvation and the Christian life properly for us today. Mixing scriptures that were not written to the body of Christ and try to make them fit us, is not the way to understand the bible. NOT every bible verse is written to and about us. Otherwise people would be building an Ark, doing animal sacrifices and selling all they have. Hmmm, maybe some are doing those things?
Seeing it is Jesus Christ who did the work to save us, we cannot unwork His work. Once saved always saved.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ETERNAL = FOREVER
2Cor 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Our salvation by God's grace is not a license to sin but gives us the power to live a godly life. And though we will fail by still committing sin, our salvation is still kept by Christ who does the keeping.
Titus 2:11 KJV For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12 KJV Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Don’t be fooled by people who tell you, you need to do some work to be saved or to stay saved. That is not the gospel for us today which is a free gift of GRACE when we believe. Eph 2:8-9.
